Building strong relationships with your team and other stakeholders

Trenton Moss   Head Coach , Team Sterka

You’ll have felt an instant connection with some colleagues when you first started working together. And with others, you may still be struggling to work with them after some time. The thing is, we’re all different... but those differences aren’t as varied as you might think.

In this masterclass, Trenton will walk you through the 4 different communication styles. You’ll find out which is your most dominant one and therefore how you tend to communicate... and you’ll also learn which ones your colleagues use, and how you should adapt your comms to them.

During the masterclass, you will:

  • Learn about yourself and why you communicate in the way you do
  • Understand why other people say and do things that just grate on you
  • Practice speaking with people that have opposing comms styles to you
  • Ultimately, learn to build rapport and long-lasting relationships with anyone

Trenton’s remote workshops are always high-energy and super-interactive. Expect lots of group work, roleplays, live demos, interactive polls and group chat - all based around the challenges you face day-to-day. Strictly no lectures and no slides.

Creating equitable design teams

Steven Wakabayashi   Founder & President , QTBIPOC Design

Establishing equity within our teams starts with reevaluating our own internal culture. In this workshop, you will learn some of the pitfalls of diversity hiring, why they haven't worked, and ways to create a more equitable creative culture that leads to more diverse thinking, freedom, and creativity. We'll share some of our QTBIPOC Design organization principles and methods that have guided us in building a thriving team, and workshop methods together to create safe spaces, build empathy, and reinforce positive action.

In this session, we will:

  • Re-examine our traditional approach towards diversity hiring and address equity through our everyday processes and culture

  • Learn tactical solutions creatives can apply to their internal reviews, meetings, critiques, and delivery that shifts away from perfectionism and metric-driven processes to a more mindful and equitable model.

  • Feel re-energized to hold safe space for one another that is less judgemental and defensive, and where challenging issues can be discussed without fear of conflict.

Outcome-Based Roadmaps

Bruce McCarthy   Founder , Product Culture

Roadmaps get the blame for over-promising and either delivering late or delivering underwhelming results (or both). In this hands-on masterclass, product leader Bruce McCarthy walks you through his process for building a product roadmap, by establishing your product’s vision and aligning on your product themes, and prioritising your roadmap with business objectives, gaining buy-in across stakeholders, and maximising your team’s impact.

This masterclass is based on his best-selling book “Product Roadmaps Relaunched: Setting Product Direction While Embracing Uncertainty.” Bruce will teach you how to build a product roadmap that works for you and how you can relaunch roadmapping in your organisation.

You’ll take away a roadmap for a fictitious product, new skills and frameworks to help you make your roadmap work for you in your organisation, new connections, and confidence in your roadmap-building abilities.

Inclusive Design: Creating a Bias-Informed Practice

David Dylan Thomas   Founder, CEO , David Dylan Thomas, LLC

The Inclusive Design: Creating a Bias-Informed Practice masterclass is intended to help individuals and organizations come up with systemic ways to mitigate bias in their design processes.

It begins with the acknowledgement that our users have biases and so do we and asks how might we use design and content strategy tools and methods to reduce the harm those biases might cause (or even use some of our mental shortcuts for good).

The exercises will give attendees practice in applying some of these methods to the design of a hypothetical product.
